LUCENA CITY - Recovering Persons Who Used Drugs or RPWUDs have recently graduated as part of the new batch of the community based rehabilitation program Kanlungan ng Pagbabago.
A short graduation program was conducted in this regard which was facilitated by the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council led by Cadac Operations Head Francia Malabanan.
The people who attended were some individuals from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Quezon, Intelligence Officer 3 Reynaldo Benzon, Lucena PNP in the person of PLt. Delilah Tapulayan, as well as some barangay councilors from the barangays where the rpwuds graduates live.
The RPWUDS graduates underwent the 30-day-in-house program of Balay Silangan where they carried out various activities.
Some of these are skills training such as NC1 Shielded Metal Arc Welding under TESDA Quezon, rug making and dishwashing liquid, as well as undergoing various modules, seminars, and interventions such as spiritual, psychological, and physical activities.
In Malabanan's speech, she welcomed the attendance of the guests of honor as well as congratulated the graduates.
She said that this end is the result of their efforts to rebuild their lives from the worst bad practices caused by illegal drugs.
She further stated that this program of the local government does not end here but it is the beginning of a new phase of their lives.
She said the city government, through the Cadac office, continues to support them so that they can further achieve the desired change.
Meanwhile, in the last part of the program, such RPWUDS formally graduated and were also showered with relief goods from good sponsors. (reports from PIO Lucena/Josa Cruzat)
