TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite — The local government of Noveleta through its Municipal Rural Health Unit started inoculating minors with comorbidities aged 12 to 17 years old on November 3.
This coincides with the nationwide pediatric immunization on the same day per the recent announcement of Vaccine Czar Secretary Carlito Galvez.
Noveleta, the very first local government unit in the province to commence immunization of minors, advised that vaccination will be open to children of residents only.
Moreover, ongoing vaccination for non-residents has temporarily cease starting November 3 to give way to the pediatric vaccination rollout.
Parent or guardian of the pre-registered minors presents documents on the day of their vaccination such as birth certificate, proof of kinship to the minor (birth certificate, baptismal, school record, notarized affidavit of guardianship, insurance policy, solo parent ID, etc), medical certificate of valid DOH comorbidity for the pedia A3 category, and proof of residency (valid ID, barangay ID, barangay certificate, etc).
The success of the October 15 pilot Covid-19 immunization drive for minors conducted in the National Capital Region justified the ‘go signal’ to expand the vaccination nationwide with vaccine brands Pfizer and Moderna authorized for emergency use by the Food and Drug Administration for minors.
The vaccination of minors is crucial and timely for the opening of face-to-face classes to bring back normalcy to the provision of education in the country. — Ruel Francisco, PIA Cavite (with reports from Noveleta Health Office)
