BATANGAS CITY - The start of various infrastructure projects in Calaca town under the government’s Local Government Support Fund-Support to Barangay Development Program (LGSF-SBDP) has been completed.
On October 22, the Department of Interior and Local Government Region IV-A along with other government agencies and the local government of Calaca led the groundbreaking ceremony in Brgy. Taklang Anak signals the formal start of the project.
These include the P2-million road project and a one-story and two-classroom building that also includes a water collection system at Taklang Elementary School.
Projects funded under the program also include the construction of a two-storey Health Station and Rain Water Collection System with a funding of P4-million as well as P5-million solar panel streetlights with 90 watts Integrated solar panels and a height of 15 ft. the pole as well as the laying of its concrete erection.
During the groundbreaking ceremony, government agencies also provided various assistance to the local government of Calaca.
This includes P1-million financial assistance for 500 beneficiaries of the Cash for Work Program and P5-million for a sustainable agriculture project including the purchase of a 4-wheel tractor and construction of a Demo Farm and conducting trainings for better and effective use and strengthening of it.
TESDA will also provide training for Rice Land Preparation Machinery and Equipment Operations and Organic Production NC II for better project strengthening and implementation.
According to DILG Regional Director Engr. Ariel Iglesia, this is the first groundbreaking ceremony for the SBDP project in the province of Batangas where there are six projects included.
“Ang mga proyekto pong ito ay nagpapakita ng pagkakaisa ng komunidad at lokal na pamahalaan sapagkat ang komunidad ang nag-identify ng mga proyektong ito na sinuportahan naman ng pamahalaang lokal sa pamamagitan ng serye ng coordination meetings,” said Iglesia.
“Layon nitong tuluyang maisulong ang mga komunidad upang maging tahimik at payapa ang mga malalayong lugar na bahagyang naiwan na ng pag-unlad. Isang paraan din ito ng pagpapakita ng pamahalaan ng tunay at tapat na pagtupad sa pangakong serbisyo sa mga Filipino,” Iglesia added.
In a message from 202nd Infantry Brigade Col. Cirilo Balautro Jr., stated that Taklang Anak was selected to be the beneficiary of the project because it was previously known as a counter-affected area and after going through the Retooled Community Support Program it was recommended to receive the project.
He added, hopefully such a program will not end with just conducting groundbreaking bread to enrich it by the residents because it is a kind of manifestation that the government does not neglect and continues to find a solution to finally end the insurgency in the country.
According to a report by the Philippine Air Force and Calaca Philippine National Police, there has been five years of no visible NPA presence in the area.
