CALAMBA CITY — The Department of Health (DOH) – Calabarzon together with the concerned local government units in Laguna and Rizal provinces started its house-to-house campaign to address the vaccine hesitancy through localized information dissemination.

“Napakahalaga ng tamang impormasyon at tamang komunikasyon upang malabanan ang vaccine hesitancy at misinformation na natatanggap ng mga eligible recipients. Kailangang gawin ang localized information campaign upang mas maging focused ang pagbibigay at pagpapaliwanang sa kahalagahan ng bajkuna laban sa Covid-19,” Regional Director Eduardo C. Janairo stated.



“Ang bakuna ay nakakapagligtas ng buhay. The delay in the acceptance or refusal to accept the vaccine despite its availability is a threat not only to the individual but to the family and community as well,” he emphasized.

The campaign targeted barangays in the two provinces with high vaccine hesitancy rate.



According to Jeannette C. Atienza, head of the regional Health Education and Promotion Unit (HEPU), who led the house-to-house information dissemination, among the multiple factors influencing vaccine decisions are safety and efficacy, compatibility of religious beliefs, fear of syringe and misinformation.

“This can only be addressed through effective communication and ensuring that proper information given to intended targets. This requires effective outreach activity to be able to provide them the knowledge and information on the various vaccine options and understand their role in it.”



“Makakatulong din dito ang mga nabakunahan na upang makapagbigay ng personal at aktuwal na karanasan at makapagpapatunay sa kaligtasan at kahalagahan ng bakuna laban sa Covid-19. The information they provide helps lessen misinformation and prevents its negative consequences,” she added.

Health personnel from provincial offices, municipal offices, barangay health workers, barangay officials including teachers were also met and provided with updates and developments on the on-going vaccination drive and relevant information campaigns to address vaccine hesitancy and common vaccine misconceptions of people in the communities.

The house-to-house information campaign will continue in coordination with barangay health workers to lessen vaccine refusals and encourage every eligible citizen to get vaccinated against Covid-19.

As of November 9, 2021, a total of 10,100,763 individuals were vaccinated in CALABARZON. — DOH CALABARZON
