CAVITE CITY - In conjunction with the celebration of the Annual Elderly Filipino Week in October, a proposal was made in Cavite to provide a P5,000 cash gift to nonagenarians or individuals aged 90-99.
In addition to the cash gift, the beneficiaries will receive a certificate of recognition in accordance with Provincial Ordinance No. 343-2022, which was passed on January 17 and was published recently.
“[This is] in addition to other benefits and privileges granted under existing laws, ordinances, rules and regulation,” according to the ordinance.
To qualify, the individual must have been a resident of at least 5 years and registered with the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs in the city or municipality of Cavite.
"“It is hereby declared the policy of the Province of Cavite to recognize and honor the elderly who are considered sterling citizens who led exemplary long lives that deserve to be given tribute and respect,” the ordinance added. (with report from Michael Delizo/ABS-CBN News)
