CALABARZON - The Department of Interior and Local Government has directed all barangays throughout the country to compile a comprehensive list that includes the vaccination status in each area, as well as monitor the movement of unvaccinated individuals.
The DILG has directed barangays to submit a 'updated' inventory every month so that the DILG can better see and track the activities and movements of unvaccinated residents in the community.
In a briefing on Wednesday, January 13, Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) stated that the government will issue a memorandum circular regarding the submission of each barangay's inventory at any time.
“It all begins with an inventory and then when we have the inventory, that’s when the LGU (local government unit) could implement the ordinance restricting the movement of unvaccinated individuals,” Malaya said.
He added that the government's "last resort" is to arrest unvaccinated individuals.
“So stay at home if you do not want to be vaccinated. Only if they refuse, only if they have been violating this several times, only then can arrests be made,” Malaya reiterated.
