CALAMBA CITY, Laguna — Laguna Governor Ramil Hernandez on Friday put in place measures in a bid to avert the spread of Covid-19, as more towns and cities are battling a resurgence of infections.
The rising number of new cases recorded in the province has pushed the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases to escalate Laguna to Alert Level 3 from January 7 to 15, 2022.
Following the ‘stricter’ alert level, Hernandez ordered the implementation of ‘proactive measures’ including strict curfew hours for minors and reimposition of liquor ban in the entire province of Laguna.
Effective Friday, minors are prohibited to roam in all public places from 10:00 pm until 4:00 am, according to Executive Order No. 1 issued by Hernandez.
The provincial governor also enjoins local chief executives to ensure strict implementation of the curfew hours, giving them the discretion to implement stricter curfew policies in their respective localities.
Hernandez also ordered the reimposition of a liquor ban in all commercial establishments and public places in the province effective January 7.
According to a separate executive order, only 21 years old and above may purchase, and no liquor shall be served and consumed in any commercial establishments within the province.
As provided in Executive Order No. 2 Series of 2022, consumption of liquor is only permitted inside residences and strictly limited to members of the immediate household.
The directive also prohibits residence to invite guests or visitors other than members of the immediate household for drinking sessions, gatherings, or any social activity.
Hernandez meanwhile hopes for the full cooperation of the local chief executives in the strict implementation of the said measures and restrictions to prevent and slow down the rise in the Covid-19 cases in the province.
“Inaasahan natin ang kooperasyon ng ating mga local chief executives sa istriktong pagpapatupad nito sa kani-kanilang bayan at lungsod, at ang pagsunod ng ating mga mamamayan,” says Hernandez in a Facebook post.
Active Covid-19 infections in the province soared to 1,074 on Friday as more towns and cities logged further increase in new confirmed cases.
Laguna now has 100,244 confirmed cases, 96,053 recoveries, and 3,117 Covid-19 related deaths since the pandemic began, according to the Department of Health Region 4A. — PIA LAGUNA
