ANGONO, Rizal - According to Pol. Lt. Col. Ferdinand Ancheta, chief of Angono Police, the number of recorded cases or crime index volume in Angono town has soared to 89 in 2021.

According to Ancheta's report at the Municipal Peace and Order Council meeting, the number of cases soared in 2021 compared to 49 recorded in 2020.

The main crimes recorded were cases of theft, motornapping and robbery.

"Karamihan crimes against property -- theft and robbery and motornapping dahil maraming tao ang nawalan ng trabaho [dahil sa pandemic], walang makain, 'yung iba nagsa-shoplifting na sa mall natin," said Ancheta.

The three barangays with the most index crimes in 2021 are Barangay San Isidro which recorded 33; San Roque, 32; and Mahabang Parang, 21.

Meanwhile, about P2.7 million worth of illegal drugs were seized by the police last year of which 111 grams of shabu and 451 grams of marijuana were confiscated.

It is estimated that 21 most wanted persons were arrested by the police in 2021.

Although the Angono police has only 68 total personnel compared to the town's 130,494 population, most of the crimes that occur are also solved immediately.

"May mga krimen na nangyayari pero nasosolve naman po natin. Actually kaunti na lang 'yung hindi natin nasosolve d'yan kung hindi man natin mai-file agad ang kaso, 'yan po ay hindi namin tinitigilan hanggat hindi nasosolve,” said the chief.
