CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – Calabarzon region continues to log the second-highest Covid-19 vaccination rate in the country, according to the Department of Health (DOH).
Data from the DOH Center for Health Development Calabarzon show that around 8,324,154 individuals in the Calabarzon region have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19. This accounts for 64% of the 12.9 million target population in the region.
According to the DOH Calabarzon, around 17,886,268 out of the 22,567,596 doses of Covid-19 vaccines allocated by the national government have already been administered to eligible residents in the region’s five provinces.
This figure includes eligible members of the population who have received single-dose Covid-19 vaccines made by drugmaker Johnson&Johnson.
Economic front liners logged the highest vaccination rate in the entire region, where around 3,044,846 individuals have been fully vaccinated and 209,918 individuals already inoculated with Covid-19 booster doses.
Meanwhile, around 1,046,674 indigent residents have already received complete doses of Covid-19 vaccines, which provided them full protection against severe symptoms of the deadly disease.
The Department of Health stressed the importance of getting vaccinated against Covid-19 amid the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the country.
Earlier this month, Secretary Francisco Duque III urged the public to complete their Covid-19 shots which are effective in reducing the transmission of the deadly virus. — Patricia Bermudez, PIA4A
