Malalim Multipurpose Cooperative receives P 5M funding from DA

BATANGAS CITY - The Malalim Multipurpose Cooperative recently received P 5M in funding from the Department of Agriculture (DA) via the Agricultural Training Institute - International Training Center on Pig Husbandry (ATI -ITCPH).

The purpose of such financial assistance, according to National Livestock Program Director Dr. Ruth S. Miclat-Sonaco, is to restore the vitality of the country's swine rearing industry by providing assistance to backyard raisers who have been severely affected by African Swine Fever (ASF).

Malalim MPC is one of ten pilot cooperatives in the country to receive the Community-Based Swine Production through Clustering and Consolidation Project as part of the Department of Agriculture's Integrated National Swine Production Initiatives for Recovery and Expansion (INSPIRE) Program.

The said amount will be used by Deep MPC in the construction of a modern facility with climate-controlled system and biosecurity to ensure safe and high quality pig production.

OIC-Center Director of ITCPH Dr. Rene C. Santiago that such a project will be successful due to the support of the city government through the Office of the City Veterinarian and Agricultural Services (OCVAS).
