BATANGAS CITY - Limited face-to-face classes will begin on Monday, March 7 in the city's 19 public elementary and national high schools, according to Batangas City Schools Division Superintendent Dr Zaldy Bolanos.

They areDela Paz Itaas ES, Dela Paz Pulot ES, Talahib Pandayan ES, Talahib Pandayan NHS, Tibig ES, Cumba ES, Piit ES, Sto Domingo ES, Malibayo ES, San Agapito Integrated HS, San Agapito ES, Liponpon ES, San Antonio NHS, Parang ES, Parang Cueva ES, San Agustin ES, San Agustin Silangan ES, San Agustin Kanluran ES and San Agustin Integrated HS.

The opening of the class, according to Bolanos, was in accordance with the Department of Education's memorandum.

Prior to the start of expanded limited face to face classes, all public schools in the country will be required to conduct self -assessment using the School Safety Assessment Tool (SSAT).

Some of the considerations are safe operations, school readiness specifically the redesign of classrooms to ensure proper distancing and the implementation of health and safety protocols inside and outside the classroom.

He also said there are enough learning materials, health kits and handwashing facilities in schools.

Earlier, he said, they contacted barangay officials and held consultative meetings with parents with the help of the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) to which they responded positively.

Kindergarten pupils will attend three hours per day while grades 1-12 students will attend four hours of class.

He said modular learning will continue for children whose parents do not allow them to participate in face to face classes.

An isolation room will also be set up at the school for children who will develop symptoms.

Bolanos also stressed that almost all the teachers have already received the complete vaccine as well as the booster for additional protection.

The Inspection Team from the city government also visited the said schools.

“Malaking bagay ang suporta ng local government kaya naman lubos ang aming pasasalamat sa pamahalaang lungsod partikular ang pagsasaayos ng mga silid-aralan na gagamitin ng mga mag-aaral” said Dr Bolanos.

He said the simulation or dry run held on March 1 was successful where the children as well as the parents were very happy.

Dr Bolanos urged parents to vaccinate the learners to ensure the safety of the children.

Several other public elementary and high schools in the city will open classes on March 14 and March 21.

It is expected that more schools will conduct progressive limited face to face classes once the city is downgraded to Alert Level 1.
