IMUS, Cavite - The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System-Regulatory Office (MWSS-RO) has announced a discount for some Maynilad Water Services Inc. customers. Those affected by the water service interruption are primarily those served by the Putatan Water Treatment Plant Zone.
The rebate that Maynilad customers can get from some parts of Muntinlupa, Parañaque, Las Piñas, and Pasay, as well as some parts of Cavite such as Bacoor, Imus, Rosario, and Noveleta, is expected to be P 323.00 this April.
According to MWSS-RO chief regulator Patrick Ty, the rebate will be paid from the fine imposed by MWSS in Maynilad following the extended water service interruptions in the affected areas from December 2021 to February 2022.
“Based on the evidence gathered from its investigation, the MWSS-RO concluded that Maynilad failed to meet its Service Obligation of ensuring the availability of an uninterrupted 24 hour supply of water at seven pounds per square inch (psi) minimum pressure to all connected Customers in its Service Area,” said Ty.
“Customers within the PWTP Supply Zone were found to have been deprived of water service obligation for at least 15 days, which adversely impacted their health and welfare,” he added.
Meanwhile, Maynilad initially claimed that there was a production problem in the Putatan Water Treatment Plant Zone due to the allegedly poor quality of water from Laguna Lake.
Maynilad serves several areas in the city of Manila, Makati, Quezon City, Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Valenzuela, Muntinlupa, Navotas, and Malabon in Metro Manila.
The Maynilad service also covers some areas in Cavite such as Bacoor city, Cavite, and Imus, Kawit town, Noveleta, and Rosario.
