TAYABAS CITY, Quezon - President Rodrigo Duterte signed Republic Act No. 11702 on April 18, 2022, which authorizes the construction of a multi-specialty hospital in the province, known as the Southern Luzon Multi-Specialty Medical Center.
The residents needing medical services will no longer have to travel to Metro Manila once the Southern Luzon Multi-Specialty Medical Center in Tayabas is complete.
The hospital will be the first hospital in Southern Tagalog for various diseases and one of the area's apex or end-referral hospitals.
The Department of Health will manage the hospital and ensure that health services are efficient, effective, and affordable.
In this regard, Quezon 4th District Representative Helen Tan expressed her gratitude to President Duterte for the enactment, which she said is in line with the purpose of the Universal Health Care (UHC) Act which she also enacted.
She said many poor and sick people would benefit from the construction of the Southern Luzon MSMC.
Congresswoman Tan and Quezon 1st District Representative Wilfrido Mark Enverga filed a bill to build a hospital to treat various diseases.
Furthermore, the facility will serve as an apex hospital or end referral hospital to be administered by the Department of Health (DOH) to help bring medical services closer to the people of Southern Tagalog and Bicol.
