SSS intensifies drive vs delinquent employers in Laguna
The Social Security System (SSS)

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna — The Social Security System (SSS) on Friday, April 29, tracks down delinquent employers in Calamba and Cabuyao cities as the state-run pension fund intensifies its Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) Campaign.

SSS Executive Vice President for Branch Operations Voltaire Agas leads the RACE Team in going after employers in the said cities that failed to remit their employees’ contributions. They visited ten establishments where they issued notices reminding them of their obligations under the Republic Act 11199 or the Social Security Act of 2018.

SSS Calamba Acting Branch Head April Baje said they have mapped out 220 employers within Calamba and Cabuyao with contribution delinquencies amounting to P68 million. Baje stressed that non-compliance of these employers had affected more than 5,000 employees.

According to Agas, delinquent employers subjected to RACE only have 15 days to settle their delinquencies, otherwise, they will be meted with legal actions aside from the accrued penalties due to non-remittance of their employees’ SSS contributions.

Penalty condonation

Recognizing the negative impact of COVID-19 on businesses, the RACE campaign also targets to promote the penalty condonation programs such as the Pandemic Relief and Restructuring Program (PRRP) that qualified delinquent employers can avail themselves to ease their financial obligations to SSS.

According to Agas, employers whose financial positions demonstrate a clear inability to pay their delinquency charges due to the ongoing pandemic may avail the PRRP. Those who will not qualify for the program may apply flexible payment terms to settle their delinquencies.

The installment program, according to Agas, may be availed for up to 60 months. Business and household employers have until May 19 to apply for the penalty condonation program of the SSS.

With more than 5,000 employees affected by the contribution evaders in Calamba and Cabuyao, Agas also urged employees to regularly verify their contributions records through online and mobile applications launched by the SSS. He said employees may also go directly to the SSS Branch to confirm if their contributions are up to date. — FC, PIA Laguna
