TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite - “I promise to do my best for all of you by including a lot of what we have right now.”
Thus said incumbent Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla hours after the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has officially declared his victory for his second term in the Historical Capital of the Philippines.
With 1,367,797 votes, Remulla defeated his gubernatorial rivals, Weng Aguinaldo, with 122,569 votes, Augusto Pera Jr., with 98,829 votes, and Jerum Giles, with 26,223 votes.
Its running mate Athena Bryana Tolentino also won with 1,195,863 against her rival Joseph Thim Jamboy, who scored 205,004.
In his statement, Remulla said to "stop the conflict and start embracing the future."
Meanwhile, according to the election results, the Revilla family won the positions they ran for in the government. Ramon Jolo Revilla received 101,809 votes in the First District, while Doc Paul Abaya received 92,761 votes.
His mother, Bacoor City Mayor Lani-Mercado, also won a landslide win for congressmanship in the province's second district, while Ram Revilla won as a member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.
Also among the sitting provincial members of Congress, AJ Advincula for the third district, Roy Loyola for the fifth district, Antonio Ferrer for the sixth district, Boying Remulla for the seventh district, and Aniela Tolentino for the eighth district.
Cavite Fourth District Representative Pidi Barzaga will remain in his post.
According to Comelec data, 1,870,383 out of 2,302,353 total voters in the province participated in 2022. (with reports from RBF/FC, PIA 4A)
