CALAMBA CITY - The government brought essential services closer to the Duterte Legacy Barangayanihan Caravan, which was held in this city recently.

Government agencies came together at Camp Gen. Vicente Lim to provide their services such as PhilSys ID Registration of the Philippine Statistics Authority, Job Fair of the Laguna Provincial Employment Service Office (PESO), Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) of the Department of Agriculture, and live skills demo of TESDA CALABARZON.

The Department of Health (DOH) also provided free medical services and vaccines against Covid-19 and pneumonia. At the same time, the Philippine National Police (PNP) facilitated applications to the National Police Clearance System to the public.

Apart from the services that continue to be provided by the government, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) -Laguna also distributed P2,095,352 worth of Grant Assistance under its Employment Assistance program to Our Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers.

Its beneficiaries include a Person With Disability (PWD), a single parents, and a housewife.

According to PNP Focal Person, PLTGEN. Rhodel Sermonia, the purpose of the Duterte Legacy Caravan is to bring government services and programs closer even to the barangays.

“Ito ay simbolo na magkakaroon tayo ng iba’t ibang Duterte Legacy Caravan hanggang sa pinakamababang lebel ng ating lipunan, tulad ng mga barangay, siyudad, munisipalidad at iba’t ibang probinsya,” said Sermonia.

Aside from government services, the Duterte Legacy Caravan was also opened to surrendered rebels where they could share their experiences before submitting to the government.

‘Ka Lilay’, a former cadre of the CPP-NPA-NDF, was also emotional and shared his experiences as a member of the MIGRANTE Partylist.

At 17, ‘Ka Lilay’ became a child warrior and participated in various rallies throughout Laguna.

She has accompanied the loss of some critical experiences of an ordinary youth, such as the debut celebration.

He said, “Hindi ko naranasan ang pagiging normal na kabataan na ang iniisip lamang ay ang paglalaro at pag-aaral. Hindi ko rin naranasan ang mag-debut tulad ng inyong mga anak,”

He also urged parents to show their love to their children so that they are not encouraged to join groups like the CPP-NPA-NDF.
