SAN PABLO CITY, Laguna - The Sanitary Division of the City Health Office went from house to house in various barangays in San Pablo City, Laguna, to prevent the spread of dengue.
House-to-house programs of the CHO include Search and Destroy activities, the distribution of Information and Education Campaign (IEC) materials, and larvicide application to mosquito and tick infestations.
The group first visited Brgy. Sta. Isabel, this Monday, May 16, handed out flyers and provided more information about dengue.
According to Dra. Mercydina Caponpon, Assistant City Health Officer, said they will next visit barangays with high dengue cases, such as Brgy. I-B and Brgy. Del Remedio.
According to the CHO, one person has already been reported dead due to the disease in the city. San Pablo City also has the second-highest number of dengue cases in Laguna.
The City Health Office advises citizens to follow the ‘4S’ against dengue, such as “Search and Destroy Breeding Places” or the search and destruction of possible habitats and mosquito breeding grounds; “Seek Early Consultation,” or consult a doctor if you are already experiencing symptoms of dengue; “Self-Protection Measures” or protection from mosquito bites such as applying insect repellant, or using mosquito nets, etc., and “Say Yes to Fogging in times of impending outbreak” or the practice of fogging in the community if there is a threat of dengue outbreak.
