DA 4-A distributes P10.4-M subsidy, Agri inputs to farmers in Los Baños
Agriculture Secretary William Dar led the distribution of various agricultural inputs and assistance to farmers in Los Baños town who are beneficiaries of the agency’s Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund-Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RCEF-RFFA) and Fuel Discount Program.





LOS BAÑOS, Laguna - In conjunction with the agency's start in rice distribution, the Department of Agriculture (DA) Calabarzon has officially launched the second phase of the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund-Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RCEF-RFFA) in Los Baos town. Corn farmers and fishermen receive a fuel discount.

DA IV-A distributed up to P10,402,440.63 in aid and intervention to Los Baños and neighboring town beneficiaries.



Farmers in Palay received P5,000 in financial assistance, while corn farmers and fishermen received P3,000 each, which they can use to purchase crude oil in accordance with RA 11639 or Special Provision No. 20 of the General Appropriations Act of 2022.

The mandate to provide assistance to rice farmers is a result of the Rice Tarrification Law (RTL) or Republic Act 11203 and the Cash Assistance for Filipino Farmers Act or RA, according to DA Assistant Secretary for Operations and Regional Executive Director Arnel V. De Mesa. No. 11598, which stated that excess tariff revenue would be returned to small farmers through aid.



Aside from financial assistance, the agency provided machinery, various vegetable seeds, organic fertilizers, farming inputs, and farming equipment to beneficiaries of Farmers Cooperatives and Associations in Laguna.

“Tandaan ninyo na patuloy ang suporta ng DA upang maging competitive ang ating sektor ng agrikultura sa ibang bansa. Hinihikayat ko po kayo na paigtingin ang ating pamamaraan sa pamamagitan ng paggamit ng teknolohiya at mekanisasyon. Hindi po kami titigil sa pagsusumikap upang patuloy na payabungin ang hanapbuhay ng ating mga magsasaka,” said DA Secretary William Dar, Ph.D.



In total, assistance under the RCEF-RFFA is expected to be given to more than 1,737,574 rice farmers nationwide this year.

As part of the important activity for the agricultural sector, Assistant Secretary for Strategic Communications Noel Reyes, DA Assistant Director for Operations and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources IV-A Sammy Malvas, Laguna 2nd District Representative Ruth Hernandez, and Development Bank attended. of the Philippines Senior Vice President Antonio Owen Maramag.

NFA-NCR Acting Warehouse Supervisor Mr. also joined the program. Ronald Paul Garcia, Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization Dir. Dionisio Alvindia, Philippine Coconut Authority Region IV Chief Ronaldo Rosales, SRA District Officer, Senator Cynthia Villar Representative Honeylet Familaran, Cong. Wilfrido Mark Enverga Supervising Political Officer Mr. Victor Haway and other agency staff.
