TAYTAY, Rizal - Councilor Tobit Cruz personally led the removal of his tarpaulin campaign materials, which he will recycle as tote bags to be sewn by a woman's organization as a source of income and livelihood, just hours after the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) proclaimed him as one of the elected councilors of Taytay, Rizal, on Tuesday, May 10, 2022.

Cruz made election history in Taytay, Rizal, not only by removing tarps to be recycled as tote bags to create revenue and livelihood, but also by making sixth in the council on 100% election and unofficial returns.

Cruz is a current member of Brgy. Sta. Ana is the first independent councilor candidate to be elected.

Meanwhile, 4 tarpaulins toner bags and campaign materials have been collected at Don Mariano Santos Avenue (DOMSA) in Barangay San Isidro sa Angono.

Following the Memorandum of Regional Director Ariel O. Iglesia of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) dated May 4, 2022 regarding the proper management of campaign waste materials, MENRO and GSO carried out the strip tarpaulin along DOMSA in collaboration with Brgy. Friday, May 13, 2022, San Isidro MRF, with assistance from Geocycle and Councilor-elect Dodie Canlas.

The tarpaulins were forwarded to Brgy. San Isidro MRF so that such wastes can be recycled or disposed of properly.

Part of the work is the task of the father and son team in Angono, Rizal in the program Mayor Vice Calderon and Mayor Jeri Mae Calderon to immediately remove campaign materials from public roads in the ZERO Waste program and keep our environment clean.
