BATANGAS CITY - The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Batangas recently held a rollout Training of Trainers for the BADAC Advocacy Committee at the Batangas City Sports Center.
According to Pol Lt. Diosdado Pasion II, Chief Police Community Relations of BCPS, the work's purpose is to intensify the government's barangay drug clearing program.
It is a government program that gives hope to victims of illegal drugs to change and return to normal in the community with their families.
Currently, 19 barangays in the city have been drug-cleared.
Five barangays are applying to be included.
In this regard, PDEA Batangas provided them with necessary information regarding the steps to be drug cleared.
Plt Col. Salvador Solana, Chief of the Batangas City Police Station (BCPS discussed drug affectation on the drug situation in the city and their anti-illegal drug accomplishments while PDEA Batangas representatives, drug identification and effects of drugs as well as guidelines for community involvement in reforming drug offenders to become self-sufficient and law-abiding members of society.
As the basic unit of society, DILG City Director Ester Dator asked the barangays for their support and cooperation to reduce and curb the problem of illegal drugs.
Former Councilor Armando Lazarte, who was present on behalf of Mayor Beverley Rose Dimacuha, shared his experiences with the use of illegal drugs.
He stressed its ill effects and advised everyone not to try it.
He also mentioned that although they have lost their way, there is hope for their former "users" to recover and change.
The training was attended by barangay chairpersons, secretaries and other officials from 105 barangays of the city.
