NOVELETA, Cavite - The Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) IV-A conducted a clean-up drive on Long Beach, Brgy San Rafael 4, Noveleta, Cavite on May 31.
The event coincides with the national Month of the Ocean in the Philippines, highlighting the importance of coastal and marine resource conservation, protection, and sustainable management.
The MOO is celebrated in the Philippines every year in May. Under Presidential Proclamation No. 57, issued in 1999.
This year's celebration is centered on the theme "The Science We Need for the Ocean We Want (2021-2030)," which was inspired by the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.
It emphasizes the significance of conserving, safeguarding, and managing the country's coastal and marine resources.
Let this Month of the Ocean commemoration serve as a timely call to action, lest the country sinks into the depths of fishery and aquatic life decline.
EMB staff, in collaboration with MENRO Noveleta, Noveleta Maritime Police, GSO Street Sweepers, and Noveleta River Rangers, collected 45 sacks or 576 kilos of garbage, which will be disposed of at the Philippine Ecology Navotas Sanitary Landfill. (with a report from EMB Calabarzon Region)
