BIÑAN CITY, Laguna - On May 26, 542 PUPCs were vaccinated against COVID-19 at the Biñan City Police Custodial Facility.
46 inmates received the first dose, 19 received the second dose, and 477 received the first booster dose.
The vaccination was led by Dr. Jenalyn Mendoza, Head of Biñan City Health Office II. The police and CHO II also assisted some Sambigkis Advocacy Support Group, volunteers.
According to Police Corporal Michael Dela Cruz of the Biñan City Police Station, the vaccination went well, and no inmate experienced severe side effects after being vaccinated.
The PUPCs voluntarily vaccinated because they knew the importance of the vaccine against COVID-19, especially inside the prison.
Dela Cruz added that it is vital to vaccinate detainees because when face-to-face visits by their relatives are allowed again or when face-to-face hearings or inquest proceedings return, they are safe. It is from pain.
“Kung may bakuna, kung magkaroon man ng outbreak at least safe tayo dahil may bakuna”, said Dela Cruz. (with reports from PIA4A)
