Alitagtag LGU, allocates funds to the arsenator and machine for reverse osmosis

ALITAGTAG, Batangas - Alitagtag's local government took immediate action to address the reported water contamination in their town.

According to a public announcement by Alitagtag Mayor Edilberto Ponggos on his official Facebook page, their office contacted the Rural Health Unit (RHU) and Provincial Health Office right away (PHO).

The municipality will allocate funds to purchase an arsenate as a long-term solution. This water machine processes reverse osmosis and will issue an Executive Order mandating monthly water testing on all water providers, barangay waterworks, Balibago Alitagtag water District, and all water refilling stations in Alitagtag.

Called a meeting with the affected barangay officials, the municipal staff, and the water district office to discuss the interventions of the concerned agencies to ensure the safety of all.

The Batangas Medical Center (BatMC) conducted a comprehensive health assessment of urine and blood testing for arsenic in the affected barangays, including Ping-as, Dominador East, and Poblacion West tests conducted were negative for arsenic on March 24, under the leadership of Dr. Rhodora Madrid-Reyes,

The local government again contacted the Alitagtag Water District representative on April 13 and agreed to conduct arsenic testing again.

Filter replacement and cleaning of the water tank and pumping station were carried out before taking water samples for arsenic testing.
