LIPA CITY — A 80 cubic meters per day (CMD) Septage Treatment Facility (STF) to protect groundwater sources from contamination is to be built in Barangay San Jose Sico, Batangas City, According to PW Batangas Branch Manager Cristina Lipa.
The groundbreaking ceremony of STF was held in barangay San Jose Sico on May 27, 2022, jointly sponsored by Prime Water and the Batangas City Water District (BCWD) and supported by the city government.
The STF is part of the company's overall management program, which aims to protect citizens' health and preserve the environment by properly managing and disposing of wastewater used by consumers to prevent pollution and contamination in water sources.
Mayor Beverley Dimacuha and Congressman Marvey Mariño welcomed the construction of the STF, which they said is in compliance with RA 9275 or the Philippine Clean Water Act of 2004.
According to Dimacuha, this is good news and a big step towards development that considers environmental protection and is compliant with the law enforced by the government.
About 40,000 households and businesses in Batangas city will benefit from this project, which is expected to be completed this year. (with report from PIO Batangas City)
