BATANGAS CITY - On June 15, the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) collaborated with the Batangas City ICT Business Council to hold a Talent Development Workshop at the Hotel Pontefino.
Representatives from the city's universities and staff from various local government offices attended.
The workshop aims to strengthen the previously mentioned participants' collaboration in promoting the city's digital cities program, which aims to create more jobs for Batanguenos.
Batangas City is one of the digital cities in the country.
The Digital City Roadmap was presented at the workshop through an audio-visual presentation.
The Niche Identification Workshop by Digital Cities Consultant Jomari Mercado included a presentation on Philippine Information Technology (IT) -Business Process Management (BPO) Industry Trends, Countryside Development, and the skill requirements.
These include learning ability, English proficiency, computer literacy, and communication skills.
Task Us, a BPO company, helped promote the said work by sharing their hiring experiences.
They stressed that the poor communication skills of the applicants are the barrier to getting hired.
In this regard, the workshop participants suggested improving the student's communication skills in addition to the programs implemented by academic institutions.
