GENERAL NAKAR, Quezon - Following a recent encounter, the military recovered several weapons and explosive devices belonging to members of the New People's Army (NPA) in Barangay Sikap General Nakar, Quezon..
According to the Philippine Army's 2nd Infantry Division (2ID), the encounter occurred between the military and ten (10) armed individuals while the 1st Infantry Battalion was conducting combat operations in the barangay.
2ID added that the clashed NPA members are believed to be led by Janice Javier, alias Yayo, and Noel Madregalejos, alias Luis. He is the Secretary and Deputy Secretary for Organization of Platoon 2 (YGM) of KLG NARCISO and EXECOM of the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee’s Sub-Regional Military Area 4A.
The military recovered an M16 rifle, a hand grenade, an improvised explosive device, three backpacks containing personal equipment, and several documents from terrorist organizations.
No casualties were reported among the army while it is still ascertained whether anyone was killed in the rebel group.
In his statement, 2ID Commander Major General Rowen Tolentino assured that the army will further intensify its measures to maintain order in the communities covered by CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) and MIMAROPA (Mindoro). , Marinduque, and Romblon).
“We are continuously intensifying our operations across CALABARZON and MIMARO to ensure the communities are safe from the threat groups.
