LIPA CITY, Batangas - A groundbreaking ceremony to commemorate the start of construction of the Department of Agriculture IV-CALABARZON (DA-4A) new office was recently held in Lipa City, Batangas, led by Assistant Secretary for Operations and Regional Executive Director Arnel V. De Mesa and Senate President Pro-Tempore Senator Ralph G. Recto.

Senator Recto's initiative and Congresswoman Vilma Santos-representation Recto's in Batangas' sixth district made it possible to allocate up to 200 million pesos for a four-story building measuring 8,673.62 sq.m.

The multi-purpose facility, as well as the circumferential road and drainage of the agency's Lipa Agricultural Research and Experiment Station, were inaugurated simultaneously.

In the pandemic, the agency began providing services from its research station in Lipa, Batangas, in July 2020. It aims to bring the Department's programs, projects, and assistance closer to the region's farmers. It also signaled the agency's increased engagement with CALABARZON's local governments.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) IV-A, Director Jovel Mendoza, conveyed his congratulations to DA-4A on this huge project.

“We are very excited to start the construction operation of the building, and rest assured that our team in DPWH will exert all our efforts and will try and complete this project and fulfill the delivery to DA in time as scheduled,” said Director Mendoza.

In his message, ASec. de Mesa expressed his sincere gratitude to Senator Ralph Recto and Congresswoman Vilma Santos-Recto for their efforts in providing the appropriate funding for the project.

He also reminded the entire DA-4A family about the importance of the service delivered by the office.

“Sa mga kasamahan ko po rito sa Department of Agriculture Region IV-CALABARZON, nawa’y patuloy tayong maging masigasig, dedikado, at mahusay sa pagpapatupad ng tungkulin. Paglingkuran po natin ang ating stakeholders lalo na po ang ating mga magsasaka at mangingisda, at iba pa po na ating partners dito sa ating rehiyon,” said ASec. of Mesa

Senator Recto extended his congratulations to the entire DA-4A family.

“I thank all of you for your service to our nation. Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat! Marami pa tayong gagawin and I look forward to visiting you dito sa bagong tahanan ninyo. Mabuhay po kayo!,” and Sen. Recto.

Lipa City Vice-Mayor Mark Aries Luancing witnessed the activity along with Lipa local government officials and staff, DPWH IV-A officials, representatives and staff, RAFC Chairman Pedrito Kalaw, RTD Abelardo Bragas, Atty. Patricia Dimayuga, chiefs of divisions and stations and DA-4A staff. - DA CALABARZON
