TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite — The Kawit Municipal Government unconditionally supports the gender equality especially the town’s LGBTQI+ community.

Kawit Mayor Angelo G. Aguinaldo says that their goal is to protect the rights and freedoms of every Kawiteño, regardless of their chosen identity.

He says, “As a Kawiteño, I have many friends and acquaintances who are LGBTQ members. As Mayor, I have more co-workers, employees, and Kawiteños who are part of this group. Their identities are important to me, and we try to protect their rights.”

Mayor Aguinaldo stated Facebook Page that Resolution No. 45-20 adopts the Cavite Provincial Ordinance No. 200 or the ‘LGBTQ Community Protection and Recognition Ordinance of the Province of Cavite’ authored by Vice Governor, and and now First District Representative-elect Jolo Revilla.

“That is why during our Pride March we announced Resolution No. 45-20 adopting Provincial Ordinance No. 200 or the ‘LGBTQ Community Protection and Recognition Ordinance of the Province of Cavite’. It was authored by our Vice Governor, and now Congressman-elect Jolo Revilla, Let’s find out together how it protects every Kawiteño and their freedom to express themselves, Mayor Aguinaldo added.

Pride Month, which is held every June, is also an opportunity to peacefully protest and raise political awareness of current issues facing the community.

Parades are a prominent feature of Pride month, and there are many street parties, community events, poetry readings, public speaking, street festivals and educational sessions all of which are covered by mainstream media and attracting millions of participants. — RBF/PIA-Cavite with reports from Mayor Angelo Aguinaldo FB Page
