TAGKAWAYAN, Quezon —The Department of Social Welfare and Development's Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa (BP2) Program recently provided a Tagkawayan family with a P40,000 transitory family support package (DSWD).
The family of Christine S. Calmada from Sitio Malawinit of Barangay Landing, who used to live in Barangay 12 Caloocan City, was chosen to receive the said benefit.
As part of the BP2 program, an additional livelihood settlement grant to the chosen family is a starting livelihood.
Regional Project Coordinator Ronaldo Amora, a staff from Community Empowerment Facilitators of DSWD, MSWDO, and Executive Assistant to Mayor Michael Glenn Tolentino, led the awarding of such benefits.
President Rodrigo Duterte's Executive Order No. 114, signed on May 6, 2020, institutionalized the Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-Asa program, with the primary goal of addressing overcrowding in Metro Manila's urban areas.
It also helps informal settlers return to their home provinces by providing opportunities such as transportation, sustainable livelihood assistance, cash aid, and skills training programs.
