CALAMBA CITY, Laguna — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) IV-A and Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) District Southern Tagalog inks a Memorandum of Cooperation and Understanding on June 15 to further augment their disaster response efforts and strengthen their ties for humanitarian assistance in the region.
DSWD Undersecretary Felicisimo Budiongan and DSWD IV-A Regional Director Marcelo Nicomedes Castillo represented the department, while Rear Admiral Leo Campos signed in behalf of the Coast Guard.
As part of the partnership, the PCGA will lend 20 to 40-foot Type A containers that will be used as temporary storage of DSWD relief goods in Ibaan, Batangas to ensure a more convenient and faster relief distribution to affected families of natural disasters in Batangas Province and to municipalities from nearby provinces.
The PCGA also committed to providing additional personnel during disaster operations. — CH, PIA4A (with reports from DSWD IV-A)
