TANZA, Cavite — The number of dengue cases in Tanza peaks in September, according to information from the Tanza Rural Health Unit (RHU). Amid an increase in dengue infections in Tanza, the local government has once more urged the populace to maintain a clean environment.
But according to Dr. Ruth Punzalan, a rural health officer, the local administration was concerned about the rapid rise in disease cases at the beginning of the current month.
The local government has begun anti-dengue measures in response. Misting equipment to be distributed in schools and barangays as part of this effort to eliminate potential mosquito breeding areas.
Despite this, the mayor assured that their people are on alert against diseases that may spread this rainy season, including dengue.
The mayor cautioned the populace to stay away from stagnant water since these areas may house mosquitoes that spread the dengue virus.
Department of Health (DOH) said 15 of the 17 regions in the country had recorded a high number of dengue cases in the past four (4) weeks. They have exceeded the epidemic threshold of the DOH.
This includes the regions of Calabarzon, Cagayan Valley, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, Soccsksargen, BARMM, CAR, and National Capital Region (NCR).
