ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal - The Department of Labor and Employment Rizal Provincial Office recently conducted an orientation against child labor followed by the distribution of livelihood packages in San Mateo, Rizal.
Informal sector workers and barangay workers from Guitnang Bayan II were oriented in Republic Act 9231 this June 20 in line with the celebration of the recent World Day Against Child Labor.
The training on RA 9231, otherwise known as 'An Act Providing For The Elimination Of The Worst Forms Of Child Labor And Affording Stronger Protection For The Working Child', aims to equip participants on the provisions of the law against child labor and its salient points.
DOLE also provided livelihood starter packages to five parents of identified child laborers in the town in order to help generate income for the families thus eliminating the need for child labor.
The provincial office turned over two sewing-starter kits, two baking and pastry packages, and one electronic repair equipment to parents of child laborers based on their respective skillsets.

DILP Focal Person Janine Rivera also gave a briefer for participants in order to understand the agency's Kabuhayan initiative.
