TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite - The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) CALABARZON and Trece Martires City government through the City Agriculture Office recently launched the 16th Farmers’ Information and Technology Services (FITS) Center in the province.
The program aims to bring farmers, fishermen and other clients closer to appropriate, updated and accurate information on farming and fishing technologies.
It will also complement the local government unit’s efforts in providing information delivery and technology services to producers.
City Mayor Gemma B. Lubigan together with ATI CALABARZON OIC Center Director Dr. Rolando Maningas led the inauguration and ribbon cutting and presentation of the FITS Center billboard to the public.
Mayor Lubigan thanked ATI officials for the opening of FITS Center in her city as this will be a One-Stop-Information-Shop (OSIS) service facility accessible to the majority of farmers, entrepreneurs, and other clients in providing access to information and technologies in the form of appropriate to client's needs.
Ms. Janine Cailo, TGP Focal Person later explained the four (4) components of the program such as documentation or Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials; information found using the internet or Information and Communication Technologies (ICT); Farmer Scientist; and the FITS Center.
FITS Center aims to bridge the gap between information and technology, and the farmers and other stakeholders by providing access to information and technology services in agriculture, fisheries, forestry, and natural resources. (RBF/PIA-Cavite from ATI Calabarzon)
