BATANGAS CITY - On July 29, the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (CDRRMC) conducted Crisis Management Simulation Exercises (SIMEX) on the Dumantay bypass road.
The SIMEX scenario includes multiple incidents such as hijacking, hostage taking, oil leaks, and car and motorcycle accidents.
One person died and 14 were injured in the incident.
City PNP Chief, PLTCol Salvador Solana, Operations Section Chief PMAJ Erickson Go and Deputy Commander Fire Marshall CINSP Benjamin Caca stood up as Incident Commander (IC).
Observers were Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) Region IV-A Director Maria Theresa Escolano, OCD Reg.IV-A Training Officer Randy Dela Paz, Police Community Relations Chief- PLTCol Ruelito Fronda and Provincial DRRM Officer, Joselito Castro.
Observers praised the support and cooperation of Mayor Beverley Dimacuha who gave instructions to IC Solana through a phone call.
The Mayor's order was strict to ensure the safety of everyone, including the hostage taker.
They also saw the rapid development of the Incident Management System (ICS) and the prompt response of all concerned agencies including the Barangay DRRMC.
This includes fast and orderly traffic management, security, firefighting, hostage negotiation, emergency medical response, and psychological debriefing of victims.
They also praised the Federation of Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (BDRRMC) that only in the city is there a complete and organized organization.
Such simulation exercises are part of the implementation of the National Disaster Resilience Month 2022 with the theme “Sambayanang Pilipino, Nagkakaisa Tungo sa Katatagan at Maunlad na Kinabukasan”.
Batangas City DRRMC received a plaque of appreciation from OCD- Regional DRRMC, CALABARZON for its support and cooperation in promoting National Resilience Month. (with report from PIO Batangas City)
