LUCENA CITY - The city's DepEd-Schools Division Office and Lucena East VIII Elementary School were both recently recognized for passing the Mother-Baby Friendly Workplace Assessment.

This is due to their compliance to RA 10028, or the Expanded Breastfeeding Promotion Act of 2009, which requires all health and non-health facilities, establishments, and institutions to establish lactation stations, as well as the Department of Health's minimum requirements.



The said rooms, which are located at SDO Lucena and Lucena East 8 Elementary School, are for breastfeeding mothers who work at said office. He also stated that it is open to visitors and clients who require a private space to breastfeed their baby.

This room contains some equipment that a mother who breastfeeds her child will need such as a sink, refrigerator, table, chair, outlets and some reminders and guidelines for breastfeeding moms.



The said offices also believe in the importance of breastfeeding for young children and their mothers.

Meanwhile, the Nutrition & Breastfeeding program of the Center for Health Development Calabarzon extended its congratulations to the newly certified Mother-Baby Friendly Workplaces.



And they requested that they continue to promote and support breastfeeding in every workplace.

Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Hermogenes "Jimmy" Panganiban expressed heartfelt appreciation to all members of their department who contributed to the awarding of such a certificate and recognition.
