TRECE MARTIRES CITY — The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) – CALABARZON recently conducted a training on Infrastructure Audit for Local Government Units in the province of Cavite last June 29 to 30 in Tagaytay City.
Led by the DOST CALABARZON and its Cavite Provincial Office, the two-day activity involved lectures and mock audit for the application of Infrastructure Audit Manual (IAM).
A total of 52 local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officers and engineers from various provincial offices and local government units attended the said activity.
In her message, DOST Cavite Provincial Director Gilda de Jesus encouraged all the participants to ensure and support the Provincial Government’s goal of a Safer Cavite by using the IAM Manual developed by the DOST Calabarzon.
In partnership with various government agencies, the IAM serves as a guide for conducting infrastructure audit and the institutionalization of infrastructure audit on different buildings and heritage sites in Cavite.
Dr. Michael B. Baylon, a professor and lecturer from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines and the Lyceum of the Philippines University – Laguna Campus, and a Senior Structural Health Engineer of USHER Technologies Inc., discussed the process of conducting infrastructure audit.
A mock audit and post-diagnostic exam were also conducted. The mobile application of USHER Technologies was discussed. The said application will be used in conducting a Mock Audit at the City College of Tagaytay for the advanced rapid visual inspection. (with reports from DOST-CALABARZON)
