BATANGAS CITY - The Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan (KSK) Farmer's Market Day was recently launched by the SM Foundation at SM City Batangas.
Its goal is to provide city farmers with the opportunity to sell their products for free once a week at the mall from July to December.
The participants are KSK graduates who completed a 16-week SM Foundation training program in organic high-value crop farming.
They are also all members of the Batangas City Vegetable Growers Association (BCVGA).
KSK was first introduced in the city in 2012 (Batch 49) and again in 2019 (Batch 202) in collaboration with the local government.
Along with farmers as beneficiaries of the program are members of KALIPI, recipients of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program or 4P's, and some residents of barangay Pinamucan Ibaba.
Aside from generating additional income, the Farmer's Market Day also aims to continue cultivating the skills and knowledge of KSK farmer graduates and showcase the quality fruits and vegetables they produce.
The SM Foundation is partnering with the SM Supermalls Department of Agriculture (DA) Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in this project.
