LUCENA CITY - Through the City Agriculturist Office, the City of Lucena ranked third in the effective implementation of the CALABARZON Urban Agriculture Program.
Awarded by USDA Region IV-A, led by Assistant Secretary for Operations and Regional Executive Director Engr. Arnel De Mesa, Ceso III presented the award to Assistant City Agriculturist Officer Jirah Lou Mareno, who gladly accepted the certificate in Lipa City, Batangas.
Apart from the said recognition, the city government of Lucena will also receive 137,000 pesos worth of the program that is useful for various agricultural inputs.
The urban agriculturist expresses his heartfelt gratitude to the administration of Officer-in-Charge Arween Flores at the Department of Agriculture-CALABARZON, as well as to everyone involved in this program, particularly the local government led by Mayor Roderick 'Dondon' Alcala.
Merano expressed gratitude to his talented colleagues in the Urban Agriculture division, Agricultural Technologist Mia Lyn Ogana and Rosette Marasigan, who was thrilled to receive the said recognition.
Urban Agriculture is a new Department of Agriculture banner program for twenty urban cities and per-urban municipalities, including the City of Lucena.
Meanwhile, Calamba City got second place, and Lipa City got first place for the best implementor of the Urban Agriculture Program in the entire Region 4A.
