CALAMBA CITY, Laguna — A new cave named Pinagdaop Cave was discovered by experts from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) CALABARZON.
The Pinagdaop Cave, located in Brgy. Cueva, Sta. Maria, Laguna, is a type of cave with tunnels formed between stacked rocks on the mountainside.
According to preliminary observations by DENR CALABARZON, the cave's most comprehensive passage will be 4.39 meters, while the narrowest will be 0.64 meters.
The agency also laid out the plan to put Pinagdaop Cave under the Class 1 category to properly preserve the cave due to its delicate and fragile geological formation and possible impact on the dangerous conditions of wilderness life.
Studies by experts from DENR CALABARZON, Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Sta Cruz, and the local government of Sta. Maria the cave to learn the proper management, care and conservation of the natural resources and life found inside and outside the cave.
Right now, they have put wooden stairs at the cave's exit and a concrete floor inside it. The candle lighting was also done concerning the cave and the desert life. (with report from DENR CALABARZON)
