LUCENA CITY, Quezon —Joan Maricel Zeta-Decena, nutritionist-dietician for the Quezon Provincial Nutrition Action Office (PNAO), announced that the provincial government is now focusing on ten (10) towns in the province of Quezon to reduce malnutrition cases.
Malnutrition cases are being targeted in the towns of Jomalig, Pitogo, Patnanunhgan, Infanta, Quezon, Tagkawayan, Macalelon, Lucban, Panukulan, and Padre Burgos.
Decena said while there has been a slight decrease in cases of malnutrition in the province, more support from municipal nutrition action officers and barangay nutrition scholars is still needed to intensify the nutrition program implementation in the barangays.
“Mas mainam pa din ang pagpapasuso sa mga sanggol pagkasilang hanggang anim na buwan nito at pagdaragdag ng solid food pagdating ng anim na buwan pataas ng isang bata,” said Decena.
In addition, children should be fed nutritious foods so that they can be healthy.
He also urged that the children's parents or every home in the province should have a vegetable garden.
