LUCENA CITY - Athlete gold medalist and new Philippine record holder Marco Tinamisan, 23, of Pagbilao, Quezon, exemplifies the adage that "disability does not impede success."
In the Para Swimming Competition of the 11th ASEAN Para Games 2022 held in Solo, Indonesia, Tinamisan becomes the first PH triple gold winner.
Tinamisan has also brought home medals from various competitions he participated in Quezon Provincial Athletic Meet, Calabarzon Regional Games, and Games for Special People of DepEd Quezon.
Tinamisan won several medals in the 2014 Games for Special People sports competition sponsored by the Department of Education Division of Quezon.
He was one of the Dep-Ed - Quezon athletes competing in SPED - Orthopedically Handicapped at STCAA 2014 in Lucena City.
He was a member of the Calabarzon Team in the Swimming Team OH category. He's now on his way to the Phil. Manila's Sports Association for the Differently Abled (PHILSPADA).
Legless since birth, he also has only one right arm as he has only a stump at the armpit on the left side of his body.
Tinamisan is the son of a farmer couple. He was the fourth of seven siblings.
The couple admitted in an interview that they used to hide Marco at home. That's why the young man felt self-conscious about going out to play and socialize.
They later stated that they felt there was no point in hiding. Marco's condition is unusual, but he is still a blessing.
Marco enjoys basketball as well. Despite his condition, he enjoys playing basketball with children taller than him.
After finishing his game, the young man went to the farm to help his parents.
