CALAMBA CITY, Laguna - The vice governor and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan members of the Laguna provincial board approved the opening PRC Service Center in Santa Cruz aimed at helping Lagunese professionals.
In Resolution No. 778, s. 2022, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan approved the opening of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) service center in the town of Sta. Cruz.
There is currently only one PRC Service Center in Santa Rosa City, Laguna. According to the resolution, the service center will serve residents of the province's first and second districts, who will no longer have to travel far to be provided by the PRC.
Voters also passed Resolution No. 779, s. 2022 urging President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., with the help of the PRC, to extend the validity of professional licenses to five years from the current three years.
Vice Governor Karen Agapay, who authored the two ordinances, believes that the PRC in Sta. Cruz, Laguna will improve professional service quality significantly and bring it closer to 15 towns in the fourth district, seven towns and cities in the third district, and even neighboring towns in Rizal.
In an interview with Balitang Laguna Ngayon, Agapay said, “Alam nyo, ito lang po yung ahensya na halos lahat po ng professionals ay pumupunta kasi yearly nagre-renew ng kanilang lisensya. Napaka-halaga po nito sa kanila. Bilang isang pagpapahalaga sa kanilang ginagawa sa pagsunod o kung wala namang malpractice o kung di naman po nasangkot sa kung anumang anomalya bakit di po natin i-extend din ang license from 3 years into 5 years.”
“At the same time, mai-inspire din at mae-encourage po ang ating professionals na umiwas sa malpractice para mas mabigyan ng ganitong mas mahabang effectivity ng kanilang license.”, added the vice governor.
After approval, the provincial council will send the proposals to the Office of the President and the Main Office of the Professional Regulation Commission.
