BATANGAS CITY - Twenty-seven lifeguards from the various beaches in the city resorts recently completed Basic Life Support training and Basic Water Safety and Rescue Training with Lifeguard Qualification Assessment.
This training is a City Tourism Office project aimed at providing lifeguards with the necessary skills to ensure the safety of resort guests and save lives in times of need.
Erick Sanohan, OIC-City Tourism Officer, praised the participants for their willingness to learn despite the hardships of the training.
"Sa pamamagitan ng life saving skills na inyong natutunan, mas confident na kayo na humarap sa mga sakuna at makasagip ng buhay gayundin maaari na kayong makatulong ng pamahalaang lungsod sa panahon ng kalamidad, " said Sanohan.
He also stated that licensed lifeguards are required for resorts to obtain a business permit.
The Tourism Office's partner in the said project is the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), which helped manage the training, and the Philippine Red Cross Batangas Chapter provided the training.
Water safety and rescue training was conducted in the swimming pool and at sea.
On September 15, those who completed the training will receive a certificate and a two-year license.
The participants who attended were very grateful because they increased their knowledge and skills and the opportunity to become licensed lifeguards.
