I used to wonder what kind of stranger I'd run into in the mall or on the street before. When the pandemic hit the world, everyone began wearing face masks. I wondered what the smile behind their mask looked like, and I still see it in my head.

Another reason people become accustomed to wearing face masks is they may have felt bad due to the pandemic and would rather hide their struggle and anxiety behind the mask than allow others to see them in that state.

Of course, they'd still smile and wave to hide their tears, but because wearing a face mask can hide emotions, many people are at ease with it. People grow into professionals who can hide their feelings or even a smile behind a mask.

People were required to wear face masks during the pandemic, even if it was hot, so I rarely go outside because my face sweats too much. Wearing a mask may result in suffocation and difficulty breathing. It is also pointless to bring an umbrella.

Although wearing a face mask is difficult at the time, people have no choice but to take precautions. Adults should wear face masks without hesitation to encourage children to do the same. Of course, with a fashionable facemask.

People who are self-conscious wear them to hide what they consider to be unattractive features. Because their facial expressions lack a filter, some people wear them to judge others. In my opinion, wearing a face mask is stupid. I only wear a mask to hide my shame. They hide the shame. Some people wear masks because they are self-conscious in public.

Worse, wearing a face mask hides many of the nonverbal expressions you can make in the hopes that the person will realize you disapprove. A well-placed grimace turns off most people, but we no longer have that option.

I despise how politicized masks have become in a world where privacy and anonymity appear to be on the declining trend and in a country where cameras are on every street corner. I like that I have an excuse to wear a face mask outside. Some of them are attractive now.

Some anti-face masks people believe that masks never worked, that the flu never went away, that you forced people to stay indoors against their will and fired them from their jobs because they weren't necessary.

Pro-face masks, pro-vaccination people don't complain nearly as much as anti-mask.

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Romualdez Marcos, Jr. signed legislation making face masks-wearing voluntary in the Philippines. Are his constituents vaccinated or unvaccinated? What is his contingency plan for containing the spread?

The Philippines remains at low risk for COVID-19, prompting the government to reconsider loosening its public face mask policy.

Even with the newly elected president, the Philippines still requires all citizens to wear face masks, and the government continues to promote booster shots.

But nobody cares at this point. Some people still want to wear masks to protect themselves from Covid but hide their emotions, while others don't, and that's fine. In any case, we're going about our business.

And what about China? When their caseload approaches a hundred per day, they lock down an entire city. I suppose it's time to reveal the face behind the mask of the country that forced the rest of the world to wear face masks.
