BATANGAS CITY - Mayor Beverley Dimacuha presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the Batangas City Eco Park and Wildlife Rescue Center, which was held recently at the former open dumpsite in barangay Tinga Labac.
The said project is among his 8-point agenda that he wants to accomplish before the end of his term.
The city government's partners in the project are San Miguel Global Power, First Gen Corporation, and JG Summit Petrochemical Corporation.
Besides the Eco Park and Wildlife Rescue Center, there will also be an Eco Forest Amphitheater.
According to Mayor Dimacuha, the project will help alleviate the effects of climate change.
He continues to encourage citizens to be responsible for the preservation of nature.
He advises planting trees and practicing proper waste management.
Dimacuha is very grateful to the partner industries for their support and helps to carried out the said project.
"This is a combined effort to have a cleaner, safer, and more environmentally friendly Batangas city for us and our future generation", the Mayor said.
The project is under the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (City ENRO).
According to City ENR Officer Oliver Gonzales, since the dumpsite was closed in 1998, these two hectares of land have been the location for tree planting activities of their office, various organizations and the private sector.
The trees and plants in the area are already quite large.
Also present on this occasion was City Administrator Engr. Sonny Godoy with the City Government Department Heads and barangay officials Tingga Labac. (PIO Batangas City)
