MANILA – The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) has arrested a man engaged in the practice of dentistry without a license in Laguna province.
In a statement Friday, CIDG chief, Brig. Gen. Ronald Lee, said suspect Lee Francis Boneo, 41, was nabbed in an entrapment in Barangay Looc, Calamba City on Nov. 29.
Lee said the CIDG received information that the suspect runs a clinic located along the Calamba River.
The CIDG immediately conducted surveillance to check the veracity of the report where the operatives posed as clients and met with the suspect to purchase dentures.
After taking the measurements for the dentures, the partial payment was received by the sham dentist.
“Nang maberipika ng ating mga tauhan na itong si Boneo ay nagpa-practice nga ng pagdedentista ng walang permit, ay isinagawa na natin ang entrapment operation laban sa kanya (When our operatives verified that Boneo was practicing dentistry without a permit, we conducted the entrapment operation against him),” said Lee.
Sensing that his clients are police officers, the suspect tried to escape by running towards the river, But since he cannot swim, Boneo stopped, causing the police to corner him and effect the arrest.
Various and assorted dentistry tools and materials including the buy-bust money were confiscated during the police operation.
CIDG records also showed that Boneo was already arrested by the local police for violation of Republic Act 10591 and alarm and scandal in June 2015 and for a drug case in September and was recently released from the Bureau of Jail and Management Penology (BJMP) facility in Calamba City.
A criminal complaint for violation of RA 9484 or the Philippine Dental Act of 2007 will be filed against the suspect. (PNA)
