BATANGAS CITY - Mayor Beverley Dimacuha led a tree planting activity in Barangay Solid Baybay on Thursday, January 19, 2023, with 404 College EBD scholars who are all residents here.
Aside from preserving the environment, such work aims to spread social responsibility through community service.
Some of the trees they planted were kamogo, narra, and dao saplings with the help of the City Environment Office.
The scholars brought home molave seedlings to plant in their yards.
The seedlings were a gift from JG Summit Olefins Corporation to members of the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary who took part in the planting.
Vice Mayor Alyssa Cruz and several members of the Sangguniang Panglungsod also participated in the tree planting.
“Gaya ng isang puno, you have to keep growing at naniniwala kami sa mga kabataang Batangueno kung kayat namumuhunan ang pamahalaang lungsod sa inyo,” said Mayor Dimacuha.
She advises them to return to where they came from and bring what they have learned back to the city.
Following the planting activity, the scholars were given allowances in the covered court of Pinamucan Ibaba under the supervision of the Mayor's Action Center (MAC) in collaboration with the City Treasurer's Office (CTO).
