BACOOR CITY, Cavite - The Southern Tagalog Regional Hospital (STRH) in Bacoor City, Cavite, has been operating at full capacity to accommodate the influx of patients. On January 17, the Department of Health (DOH) formally opened the new building of the Southern Tagalog Regional Hospital 5 in Bacoor City, Cavite.

In his message, DOH Officer-in-Charge Dr. Maria Rosario Singh-Vergeire stated that the Department of Health (DOH) would play the role of STRH in the implementation of the Universal Health Care (UHC) Act with the goal of providing affordable and high-quality medical services.

“Isa pa lamang ito sa napakarami pa nating planong tutuparin bilang pagtugon sa mga pangangailangang pangkalusugan ng ating mga kababayan – hindi lamang sa Cavite kung hindi saan mang bahagi ng bansa. Let us unite under the banner of UHC, to realize our goal of a Philippines where quality healthcare is affordable to all,” said Singh-Vergeire.

The secretary was accompanied by several DOH officials, including Undersecretary Nestor Santiago Jr. and Assistant Secretary Leonita Gorgolon, Dr. Ariel Valencia, DOH Center for Health Development CALABARZON Regional Director, and Dr. Ruby Ephraim Rubiano, STRH OIC-Medical Chief.

In accordance with the UHC, the secretary also ensured that the government continues to provide universal health services by constructing additional healthcare facilities and strengthening health services in public hospitals.

Since it receives patients from Cavite City, Rosario, Noveleta, Kawit, Dasmarias, and Imus as the final referral hospital, STRH plays a significant part in the local referral network in the area. Moreover, when the other tertiary government hospitals in the area are completely occupied, patients in need of Level 3 care are transferred here.

According to STRH Information Officer Eden Purugganan, this caught them off guard. Even those in the triage area are eager to be helped.

According to the Department of Health, the Southern Tagalog Regional Hospital will greatly aid in the fulfillment of UHC, which aspires to provide accessible and high-quality medical care.

The Southern Tagalog Regional Hospital is one of the province's hospitals that is already at capacity and is expanding its facilities to accommodate more patients.
