LUCENA CITY - The Department of Agriculture- IV-CALABARZON (DA-4A) began distributing 5 agri-infrastructure to various farmer cooperatives and associations (FCAs) in the region on Friday, February 17, through the Regional Agricultural Engineering Division (RAED).
According to Chieverly Caguitla, information officer for DA-4A, five agri-infrastructure facilities have been distributed to various farmer groups in Quezon and Laguna.
With the launch of the new facilities, she wishes the farmers progress in producing an abundant crop and a good revenue.
The beneficiaries that each received agri-infrastructure are Pangkalahatang Samahan ng Maghahalaman saMacatad, Samahan ng Nagkakaisang Magsasaka ng Barangay Sampaloc Bogon (SNMBSB), Samahan sa Industriya ng Cacao na Pangkabuhayan (SICAP) Pagbilao, Laguna Cacao Farmers Association, Cabay Farmers Association, at Quezon Organic Cooperative.
According to Caguitla, this agri-infrastructure will reduce labor costs while saving time and resources for farm land preparation activities.
"These facilities will assist them in producing food in a more consistent, efficient, effective, and abundant setting." she said.
Each farmers association receives a Multi-Commodity Solar Dryer, Solar-Powered Irrigation System (SPIS), Solar-Powered Fertigation System (SPFS), Cacao Fermentation Facility, and Vermicompost Shed.
Meanwhile, DA-4A also granted Canal Lining to the Banabahin Ibaba Farmers Association and the Banabahin Ilaya Farmers Association of Lopez, Quezon.
Canal lining can assist farmers in making their irrigation system more efficient by controlling the flow of irrigation. The Rice Program funded its construction.
