ANGONO, Rizal - In its "Operations Plan (Oplan) Goodbye Bulate" for the month of February, local health authorities here have taken a two-pronged method.
The move is intended to ensure that children in Angono are healthier, more energetic, and intelligent, according to the local government here.
The Department of Health (DOH) and the Municipal Health Office launched Oplan Goodbye Bulate, which is a harmonized schedule and combined mass drug administration (HSCMDA) for soil transmitted helminthiasis (STH) and filariasis elimination program (Sabayang Gamutan Kontra Bulate) in which healthcare workers from Angono distribute medicine door to door.
Local healthcare workers, midwives, and barangay health workers (BHWs) visited barangays to distribute purgatives during the launch.
CHO chief, said the activity is a nationwide program and covers the following target age groups: pre-school age children (1-4 years old), school age children (5-9 years old) and adolescents (10-19 years old).
Albendazole tablets will be distributed to eligible persons aged one (1) to nineteen (19) years of age to alleviate the presence of worms.
There will also be Vitamin A supplementation and OPT Plus or taking weight and height for children aged 0-59 months.
